Project Background

A large ocean fishing company in Zhejiang operates 8 deep-sea fishing vessels, which need to stay at sea for 3-6 months at a time. The fresh-keeping of caught fish requires a large amount of ice to maintain the storage temperature at -10℃. The fishing vessels have limited space, unstable power supply, and harsh marine environments (high humidity, salt spray corrosion), which put forward strict requirements for the size, power adaptability, and corrosion resistance of ice machines.

Customer Needs

  1. Daily ice output of 8 tons, tube ice with hollow structure (hole diameter 3mm) for better cold storage effect.
  2. Compact equipment size, adapting to the limited installation space on fishing vessels; corrosion-resistant materials to withstand salt spray erosion.
  3. Power supply adaptability to 3-phase industrial power supply (380V/50HZ) with voltage fluctuations of ±10%.
  4. Easy maintenance and operation, with remote after-sales support to solve problems at sea.

Solution

We developed a 8T/Day Marine-Grade Customized Tube Ice Machine for the customer, integrating professional marine adaptation design and remote service capabilities:
  • Core parameters: Daily ice production capacity of 8 tons, customized unit dimension of 210015502800mm (reduced by 15% compared with standard models), ice diameter of 29mm, hollow hole diameter of 3mm, and refrigerant R448a (environmentally friendly and adaptable to extreme temperatures).
  • Marine adaptation: The equipment shell and key components are made of 304 stainless steel with anti-corrosion coating; the internal pipeline is treated with anti-salt spray, and the waterproof grade reaches IP54.
  • Power adaptability: Equipped with a voltage stabilization module to adapt to ±10% voltage fluctuations, ensuring stable operation under the condition of unstable power supply on fishing vessels.
  • Remote support: Installed intelligent monitoring system, which can real-time transmit equipment operation data (power consumption, ice output, failure warning) to the company’s after-sales platform, providing remote diagnosis and maintenance guidance.

Project Results

  1. Space and environment adaptation: The compact and corrosion-resistant design perfectly fits the installation needs of fishing vessels, and the equipment has operated stably at sea for 6 months without corrosion or failure due to salt spray.
  2. Efficient fresh-keeping: The hollow tube ice has excellent cold storage performance, extending the fresh-keeping period of fish by 50% compared with traditional ice, reducing the loss rate of caught fish from 12% to 3%.
  3. Power adaptability: The voltage stabilization module effectively copes with the unstable power supply on fishing vessels, and the ice output remains stable without being affected by voltage fluctuations.
  4. Remote maintenance convenience: The intelligent monitoring system realizes remote fault diagnosis, and 90% of common problems are solved through online guidance, avoiding the need for on-site maintenance at sea and reducing operational risks. The customer has purchased 4 additional sets of equipment for new fishing vessels.
